Why the Greek situation is scary for Europe as a whole. In the mid-2000s Greece had one of the fastest growing economies in the Eurozone. The world financial crisis in the late 2000s hit Greece's economy especially hard because its main industries, tourism and shipping, were very sensitive to changes in the business cycle.
